Where the mind is without fear and the
head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the World has not been broken up
into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of
truth.
Where tireless striving stretches its arms
towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not
lost its way into the dreary desert sand of
dead habit.
Where the mind is led forward by thee into
ever-widening thought and action-
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let
my country awake.
*India is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of its Independence this Year.
It is a happy coincidence that this year happens to be the fiftieth birthday
of Swami Sundara Chaitanyanandaji also. On this auspicious occasion.
we can recall India's immortal message, which has come down to us from
time immemorial, through the corridor of time, down scores of centuries.
loud and clear, for all humanity, not confined to any particular clime or any
specific time. That message of Sanatanadharma is KNOW THYSELF. It has
come down to us from the Himalayan heights, echoing and reechoing from
peak to peak, and reached humanity everywhere.
Swami Vivekananda gave his clarion call at the Parliament of
Religions, held in 1893 in Chicago, by quoting from the Shvetashvatara
Upanishad, the words of the Rishi:
'May the sons of Immortal Bliss hearken to me even they who
occupy celestial regions!... I have realized this great Being who shines
effulgent like the sun beyond all darkness. One passes beyond death only
on realizing Him. There is no other way of escape from the circle of births
and deaths."
Let us strive to attain that Self-realization by detachment to all these
glamorous trinkets and trumperies of the world; by discrimination between
the eternal and the ephemeral; by dispassion towards all that is attractive
in this short human life; and by devotion to the ever-present Self, which
is the divine spark in every one, without any distinction of caste or
community, race or religion, man or woman.
May the Lord Almighty bring peace and happiness to all.

Body? OR Almighty
Much as you love your daughter, one
day you have to marry her off and part.
Much as you would like to keep your
body, oneday it must, mingle with dust.
Now think, where do you put your
mind? In the body, or in the Almighty?
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
God is an Ocean of Love
Devotee is an embodiment of Love
Devotion is an exalted form of Love
Love sees no differences
Love has no malice
Love is beyond dualities and distinctions.
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
Snug As a Bug in a Rug
During Brahma
muhurtam you pull the rug
over your face, tuck it under
your feet and lie curled up
snugly in your bed.
Do you ever jump out
of bed the moment you are
awake, take a bath and sit
for meditation?
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
Words without love do not sound sweet
worship without devotion does not move God
Service without sacrifice does not bear fruit.
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
He who believes in God never fails. Let the
world hate you, harass you, discredit you
and despise you. As long as you have faith
in God. Victory is yours. This is true, true.
ever so true.
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
Without being connected to the
main switch can a bulb give you
light?
Without
having
associated
himself with God can your Guru
light up your life?
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
Now a days we are all buzzing around
with activity doing voluntary services
to social, spiritual and cultural organi-
zations. But have these activities helped
us to evolve mentally, morally, and
spiritually? Service sans spiritual and
moral Values can never be complete.
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
Sweet Bitter? or Bitter Sweet
None likes the bitter tablet
All love the sweet chacolate
Lust is bad like the sweet to a patient
While Love is good like the tablet.
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
Remember, that it is God
that gives you and God that
takes from you.
If you live with this kind of attitude
you will neither love those who give you
nor hate those who take from you.
Swami Sundara Chaitanyananda
You can get pearls only if you dive deep
into the sea. What you find on the sea
shore are only snail shells. There is noth-
ing in the world outside except darkness
and duality. Turn your mind inwards. The
real treasure lies there in.
Swami Sundara Chaitanyananda
A saint does not wish that his
present pattern of life must be
different nor does he try to change
the existing scheme of things
around him. He examines the pros
and cons of every situation and
accepts the inevitable. It is not that
the saint is insensible to pain and
pleasure. Though experiencing them
he remains unruffled by them and
steadfast in his wisdom.
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
The boat of life sails for Godhead
The wind of His grace ever blows
But the sails have not been raised
And His grace silently passes by
-Swamy Sundara Chaitanyananda
So long as God's grace does not
fall on you, you will not know its
greatness. And when His grace
falls on you, you will ask your-
self, "Do I deserve His Love?".
God's grace is not the result of
your effort or the reward for your
endeavours. It is a proof of His
infinite love for His children.
Swami Sundara Chaitanyananda
The richest among us is he who wants
nothing. A Viragi's life is therefore, the
grandest of all. He sleeps in a bower
with the green foliage shading him,
the blooming branches fanning him,
the flower-laden trees waiting on
him and the birds singing him a lullaby.
